OF TEARS, MUSIC AND ICED TEA
He saw it coming. His girlfriend just broke up with him that night. There were mixed emotions – undecipherable, indescribable. I didn't know what to say to my newfound friend whom I treated as my long lost younger brother (because I did not have one). I didn't know how to comfort him. I thought I just have to listen to whatever he would say, hear the cold laughter and feel sorry when he cries.
He shared how he felt with all the burdens that he has right now and burst into tears. I cry when a friend cries but this time I held my tears back. I don't know. I just did. Maybe because awe outweighed my sympathy towards my brother. I was happy to see that he knows how to handle disturbing situations like family and love problems pretty well. In his words, "mahirap palang aliwin ang sarili."
We spent the whole night laughing while he mimicks various pop/rock bands with his favorite songs as background. We discussed anything under the sun over a gallon of iced tea – yoga poses, cartoons, dance steps, alternative music – and laughed on them. Just about anything. Good thing, we didn't drink beer. I was actually amazed how he did it with just some glasses of iced tea when every man in a situation like his would definitely crave for alcohol. (Kakaiba ka talaga, bro. Pero saludo ako sa yo. You rock, RE.)
It certainly was a night made for us to feel the cold – a night of tears, music and iced tea.
**Kaya ko kayang aliwin ang sarili ko pag broke ako?

I watched Tulad ng Dati at Cine Adarna in UP. [I was not able to watch it in CCP. Kainis.] As you all know, it won Best Film in Cinemalaya '06. Hmmm. I won't say it's disappointing because...well...it made me laugh at 10:00pm, especially the "Eheads scene" and the fact that Ratbunitata, The Dawn's rival band in the movie, really exists. If making its audience laugh is the movie's primary purpose, I would say they just achieved their goal. Pwede na, next to Big Time.
Watching it with Tits and Iggy and with The Dawn performing at the UP Film Center's lobby after the screening [at supported pa ng Sandwich at Urbandub na di naman tumugtog at nanood lang din], pwede na. hehehe

The Dawn, who were also the actors in the film. Mga bandistang natural ang sense of humor, in fairness.

FAMOUS WORDS, FAMOUS SPEAKERS
Can't help but laugh here... This story was emailed to me by a friend. Thanks Ely for making my day.
It was the first day of school in Washington, DC and a new student by the name of Dagohoy, the son of a Filipino immigrant, entered the fourth grade.
The teacher began, "Let's review some American history, class. Who said 'Give me liberty or give me death?'" She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Dagohoy's who had his hand up, "Patrick Henry, 1775." "Very good," said the teacher.
"Who said 'Government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth'"? Again, no response except from Dagohoy: "Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg, 1863," he said.
The teacher snaps at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed, Dagohoy who is new to our country knows more about our history than you do." She hears a loud whisper from the back: "Screw the Filipinos." "Who said that?" she demanded. Dagohoy put his hand up. "General John Pershing, Manila, 1896."
At that point, Jack, another student says, "I'm going to puke." The teacher glares and asks, "All right! Now who said that?" Again Dagohoy answers, "George Bush, Sr. to the Japanese Prime Minister during the state dinner, Tokyo, 1991."
Now furious another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!!" Dagohoy jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher at the top of his voice, "Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky, the Oval Office, 1997!!"
Someone shouts, "You little shit if you say anything else, I'll kill you." Dagohoy yells, "Congressman Gary Condit to Chandra Levy,Washington, D.C., 2001!"
The teacher faints. "I'm outta here!" mutters one student as he sidles to the door. "President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Baguio City, December 30, 2002!!" Dagohoy responds.
As the class gathers around her on the floor, someone says, "Oh shit, now we're really in big trouble!" "Saddam Hussein, on the Iraq invasion, Bhagdad, May 2003!" Dagohoy bellowed.
"Now, I really have to run," Jack mutters, heading for the exit., "Gloria Macapagal Arroyo again, Pampanga, October 4, 2003!!!" Dagohoy shouts triumphantly jumping with glee.

it saddens me that we now don't remember special days that we don't even drop a line online, the only means after you walked away that was sudden
it all started that fateful day when you remembered “how are you, my dear” and so i replied “i'm fine my dear friend” did you choke? or weren't you surprised at all that was sudden
now i remember a couple of years ago you wanted to settle i begged off silence i just felt t'was right love right person? i did not know if you or I that was sudden
uhh, none on my list enumeration oh, none on my list cleared that was sudden
it saddens me to loose a dear friend that was sudden

this silhouette was caught unprepared, perplexed, no, puzzled worse, blank certainly darker than her tincture
loud but ever calm advocate of peace reality bites uhhh, cliché to fault this silhouette for giving only precepts
chaos this silhouette is not into it driven by compassion yet guided by uhm, let's just say maybe invalid but sound reasons now will u fault her?

silently or not we disagree on simple things like the not-so-stinking garbage like the water i let flow through that congested water canal outside like her unintentional banging of that door like so many simple things to mention what best way to square off
lest i forget respect i must go before dawn and throw away simple things those that trigger squabble to pick out good memories and trash moments of indifference for you are my next Mama what best way to square off
but i must go before dawn to leave – the best way to square off

You left us bruised with swollen hearts, confused minds You don't recognize the voice that made you
Now there was you uncold, enlightened closer, deeper No one asked the sighs all turned into smiles.

My Romance Pie
Romance is most important in a boyfriend/girlfriend (I know.). You love the extra dimension that romance brings to a relationship and you tend to fall in love very quickly (Talaga?).
I find it interesting that intelligence and romance both occupied 31.3 percent of my romance pie. Hmmm! Interesting!
What will I go to jail for?
I just took the quiz, wrote my name and I was like huh?

What kind of smart am I?
All-Around Smart
You are all-around smart. Essentially, that means that you are a good combination of your own knowledge and experience, along with having learned through instruction - and you are equally as good with theoretical things as you are with real-world, applied things. You have a well-rounded brain.
20% applied intelligence 0% learned intelligence

mitchy_pie"I am nothing special; of this I am sure. I am a common woman with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me this has been enough." --- [excerpt]
